Diver buoyancy controller using a buoyancy compensator
A controller that automatically raises and lowers a diver using a buoyancy compensator (BCD). Manual buoyancy control is difficult because buoyancy depends on depth and visibility under water is often poor.
About the project
Diving equipment manufacturers are constantly trying to make diving more comfortable and safer. One of the major problems is controlling the volume of the buoyancy compensator. The aim of the project is to build a diver buoyancy controller for automated and autonomous ascent and descent with a buoyancy compensator.
There are at least two good reasons why manual buoyancy control is difficult:
- Compressibility: the diver's buoyancy depends on depth.
- Poor visibility: information about the speed and depth of the dive is hard to perceive.
