Project Acronym : Turbulence Sensing
Project Partners: U.S. Air Force, LEOSS, UM FERI
Project Description
The main objective of the project is to investigate, design, build, and experimentally demonstrate compact and suitably sensitive sensors for turbulence detection, which will provide a possibility to address unsolved challenges described in the introduction section. Two approaches will be investigated within the scope of the proposed project:
1.) compact high-sensitive refractive index (RI) sensors,
2.) compact, short response-time, high-resolution, all-fiber optical thermometers and anemometers.
Both concepts shall allow compact sensor designs, high measurement resolutions, and suitable bandwidth. Proposed concepts, if successfully demonstrated, shall provide a basis for the potential development of field-applicable devices. Both research directions shall also serve as mutual contingencies.
